New Loop - good times


Well, I met Dave and Wayne (Russ has been out of commission due to crazy back muscle/nerve issues) for a Sunday morning run yesterday. We took off from the swim center and Dave wanted to show us his neck of the woods. Well, it wasn't but 2 minutes into the run and Dave veers off the gravel and into the woods. Its barely light and we are running on some squirrley trail in the ice and snow - tripping over stumps and cursing - and off Dave goes just loving it. Well we went to the end of the Greenway and just kept going - past the humane society, down a gravel road to 421 - across the river and back down Bamboo for many a very pretty mile. We hit Deerfield and traffic and wound back to the start. It was in the 10 mile range, I would say and quite a beauty of a run. We did our share of laughing - Dave's blood sugar was perfect the whole time. I however stopped in at the quickie mart and had to buy 3 candy bars (for a dollar each! Rip off!). I checked mid way through just because Dave was - I was 45. Mmmm snickers really does satisfy. Almost as good as McDonalds. It was a great run. This week I am sending out 400 fundraising letters to the schools - so we'll see if we can catch up to Johnnyvail in the fundraising thing.

Christmas Holidays

Here's how the Christmas break began... We had exam week which is not exactly the most fun week of them all, but I had finished my exams the week before so it wasn't too bad. The weather reports were saying that we were going to get a nice snow and it would start that last day - Friday. Well, Friday looked fine - we had a half day because only one exam had to be given. As the kids left, there was a nice rain falling. I thought this kind of stunk because I rode my bike to school - I was ready for cold, but I didn't relish a wet ride home. I did however, haul out the mountain bike because I hoped there would be a dusting of snow for my trail ride home. This will become a bit prophetic later. Well, we teachers move to the cafeteria for our Christmas luncheon - it was nice - great food. While there we notice that in the rain are a few snowflakes.... Esmé Ruth Ahn!!

We are finally home. Well at least we aren't in the hospital. Ash got discharged last night and we headed to Greenville to meet up with Zoe and Adia who had been staying at MawMaw's . So I guess I should go back a few days and recap. Monday: I had gotten my stuff at school in order for a week and Ashley picked me up at school and we headed to Greenville to drop off the kids. Tuesday, early: Ash and I headed to Asheville for the induction. Ash was being induced due to the fact that she was diagnosed with a blood clot a few months ago and needed to time the blood thinners just right. But all has been well with the clot and up until Tuesday - life had pretty much returned to normal. We checked in and went up to our room - it was facing the mountains and was a pretty glorious sight - quite a plus for a hospital - we never closed the blinds.
